Mummy

Though most shamble through forgotten catacombs or tombs there are some mummified individuals who came back with their sanity intact, ready to take on the world again even though now undead.

Who's your Mummy?

Mummies are not limited to purely humans, though they are the most common of them all, mummies may come from all races and regions. Though they do not share a familiar culture with one another the traumatic experience of becoming a mummy and living a life dead bonds them together more than they would have with other races in life.

Immortality:Curse or Blessing?

Mummies can live forever if left completely alone, the magics that created them protect their body from normal rot or wear however they can still die just as easily as any other creature living or non-living.

Most mummies who awaken from their slumber do not do so immediately, usually it is when their resting place is disturbed they are awoken from the void of their undeath. Other times its when binding rituals or latent magic in the area wear off or intensify, rousing them from sleep.

Generally most mummies do not awaken until far after their normal lifes would of allowed but at the minimum a few years, some may still be sleeping in a forgotten tomb from thousands of years ago.

Mummies Among Us

Though mummies are rare to show up, the ones who choose to try to live their life more may try to go back to the society they have been missing from for so long. Through use of simple disguise they can pass as a scarred human, the magic spices of their internment covering up the grave smell, however when found out they may be routed from town as a monster. Those settlements who accept a mummy will find them no different from a normal individual, they are just like they were in life personality wise.

Playing a Mummy in your Campaign

Although ultimately up to the DM, choosing an undead race such as the Mummy could have severe social consequences, so trickery of some kind is recommended for normal social encounters.

However unveiling the fact you are a mummy could be useful as well, so be creative.

Whats a mummy with you?

Generally there are three goals for these revitalized Mummies to focus on in their new unlife.

They perhaps want to just live on as normal, continuing a trade or goal they did in their previous life. Some are able to return to their old jobs even, perhaps finding a family shop that is still in business when they awake.

Others were tricked or deceived into death, causing these mummies to long after revenge or sometimes redemption. Nobody expects a man you killed centuries ago to come back for revenge after all.

Still other mummies focus on returning to proper life so they can die properly for good or merely to feel alive again.

There are many other potential goals for mummies, as varied as their origin but these three remain the most common goals.
